Broccoli and Turmeric Saute

Broccoli and Turmeric saute is a healthy side dish that is full of flavor and simple to make. Goes great with rice or quinoa.

  • 3 cup broccoli florets
  • 1 shallot, minced about 1/4 cup minced shallots
  • 1 tsp grounded turmeric
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1/4 tsp grated lemon zest
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1/8-1/4 tsp salt, optional


  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and add in the broccoli, shallots, turmeric, and pepper. Add in a little water and stir frequently for about 3-4 minutes. Add in small amounts of water about 1/2 cup water and stir. Cover with a lid for about 3 minutes to soften the brocoli. Stir frequently.
  • Add in the rest of the water (about 1/2 cup of water), lemon juice, and lemon zest and stir together. Stirring constantly until the water is absorbed and the broccoli is tender, takes about 1-2 minute for the liquid to absorb.
  • Ready to serve.
