Vegan Tempeh Sloppy Joes are mixed with tangy tomato sauce mixed with green bell peppers, onions, and garlic.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup onion, diced
  • 1 8oz Tempeh
  • 2 garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup green bell pepper, minced
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/2-1 cup water
  • 1 tsp Vegan Worcestershire Sauce substitute tamri or soy sauce
  • 2 tsp Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Crumble the tempeh in small pieces with your hands and place in a bowl. Set aside
  • In a large skillet over medium heat add in the onions and bell peppers and saute with a little water (1-2 tbsp) for about 5 minutes or until onions soften. Add in the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add in the red pepper flakes and stir.
  • Add in the crumbled tempeh and tomato paste saute with a little water and mix together.
  • Add in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, dijon mustard and water, bring to a boil, reduce heat cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
