Vegan Tempeh Sloppy Joes

Vegan Tempeh Sloppy Joes are mixed with tangy tomato sauce mixed with green bell peppers, onions, and garlic.
- 1/2 cup onion, diced
- 1 8oz Tempeh
- 2 garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup green bell pepper, minced
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes optional
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 1/2-1 cup water
- 1 tsp Vegan Worcestershire Sauce substitute tamri or soy sauce
- 2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- salt and pepper to taste
Crumble the tempeh in small pieces with your hands and place in a bowl. Set aside
In a large skillet over medium heat add in the onions and bell peppers and saute with a little water (1-2 tbsp) for about 5 minutes or until onions soften. Add in the garlic and saute for 1 minute. Add in the red pepper flakes and stir.
Add in the crumbled tempeh and tomato paste saute with a little water and mix together.
Add in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, onion powder, garlic powder, dijon mustard and water, bring to a boil, reduce heat cover and simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
