The holidays are coming and you can be short on time especially when it comes to cooking. Here is a quick food hack and you don’t even have to turn on your oven. But you do need a food processor. This is a recipe Walnut Taco meat which you can use in a lot of different dishes for a quick meal.
Walnut Taco Meat!
Walnut taco meat is made from chopped walnuts, spices and a little tamari. Most importantly walnuts are a great resource of antioxidants and omega 3’s compared to other nuts. Besides the fact, walnuts are nutrient dense and contain healthy fats, the added spices help a little bit of this mixture to go a long way. (You are not eating whole cup of ground nuts if you are concerned about the fat content. This would be 1 to 2 tablespoons)
What can you use the walnut meat for?
- Taco night
- Taco salad/bowls
The walnut taco meat, or crumbles, have a tone of flavor from all the spices, so a little goes a long way. Sprinkle on a tablespoon or two of the crunchy taco walnut meat on your meals. Great for nachos, you can top them off and use the cashew free cheese sauce as well on chips or baked fries.
For creating a quick taco bowl you can use some rice, a can of beans, top it off with some salsa and taco meat and it makes for a deliciously filling satisfying meal.
One of the reasons I like making this dish is because you don’t have to cook anything. All you need is a food processor and within 5 minutes you have taco meat.
The ingredients for the walnut taco meat recipe include:
- Onion Powder
- Garlic Powder
Add the walnuts and all spices and tamari to the food processor. Pulse the blender.
It’s important to not over blend in the food processor or the walnut meat will turn into a butter. So just pulse the food processor 8-10 times for a couple of seconds until you get a crumbly texture like the image below.
